Matt Monroe isn’t just any lawyer. An Adjunct Real Estate Professor at CUNY School of Law and former award-winning journalist in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Matt knows that life doesn’t always take a straight path. As a seasoned trial lawyer and trusted counsel to leading real estate developers, restaurant owners, craft brewers, and contractors, Matt launched Monroe Law as a relationship- and efficiency-oriented law firm that gets the right result for each of our clients when they need it.

Matt is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New York.

Alison Shebest

Alison “Big Al” Shebest serves as Monroe Law’s paralegal and office manager. In her role, Big Al provides administrative assistance, litigation support and oversees the day to day operations of the firm.

Prior to joining Monroe Law, Big Al held positions at Women Against Abuse Legal Center and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. She has extensive knowledge of New York criminal law and Pennsylvania law and court systems. She brings a highly organized and streamlined approach to Monroe Law, leveraging her past legal support experience and personal passion for architecture and design, to make Monroe Law’s real estate development and construction litigation practice run efficiently.

She holds a B.A. from Temple University in Spanish and Business Studies, and has professional proficiency in Spanish.

Big Al spends her free time moonlighting as a horticulturalist and events space designer with the enigmatic Amy Young of Wild Stems, re-watching The Sopranos and keeping her family of exotic plants alive. If you challenge her to a game of gin rummy, you will lose.
